Is it possible to model a substation ground grid in EMTP-RV that includes the effect of lightning surge dissipation into earth?  I would like to calculate the voltage surge on control cable shields during a lightning strike to a grounded substation structure.

Any examples available?

Hi,There is some EMTP models

Hi,

There is some EMTP models for substation earth grid available in the litterature like in this book.  The grid is basically modeled by a RL network. It should be sufficient for a first approximation but a more detailed analysis would require flux calculation.

I hope it helps. Do not hesitate to contact our support (support@emtp-software.com) for more info.

Best regards,

Emmanuel.
